Description

The Special Regulation for the Implementation of Compensation Mechanisms for Ecosystem Goods and Services is a regulatory instrument that promotes the protection, conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of areas that provide ecosystem goods and services in Honduras. It establishes provisions, procedures, forms, and instances for financing, promotion, implementation, and monitoring of compensation mechanisms for ecosystem goods and services. It integrates society into these mechanisms at the municipality, watershed, micro-watershed, and protected areas level under principles of equity, responsibility, and shared rights towards the environment, allowing the channeling of contributions from various actors to protect critical ecosystems.
