Description

The decree establishes a special procedure for the approval of sanitation plans in areas affected by the pine weevil plague in Honduras. The decree authorizes the extraction and use of affected pine wood as biomass for energy generation, with the aim of reducing the risks of forest fires and diseases. Sanitation plans will not be allowed in core zones of protected areas, water recharge zones, or water supply micro-basins. In the protection strips of rivers and streams, sanitation is authorized as long as the slope does not exceed 15% and the work is carried out manually and by animal means.
