Description

The Manual of Technical Standards for the Implementation and Monitoring of the Process of Allocation of Forest Areas for the Purposes of Application of Community Forestry in Honduran Public Forests establishes the guidelines and procedures for the sustainable management of forest resources in Honduras, with a focus on community participation, seeks to incorporate local communities in the management, protection, and use of public forests, thus promoting socioeconomic development and gender equity. Specific objectives of the manual include the definition of criteria for the allocation of forest areas to organized communities, the establishment of clear administrative procedures, and the promotion of transparency and equity in the distribution of benefits. In addition, mechanisms are described to adjust the valuation of forests and activities such as forestry, fire protection and natural regeneration are promoted, thus ensuring the perpetuity of the resource and the well-being of the communities involved.
