Description

The Law establishes the State Policy for Sustainable Nutritional Food Security (POESANS) in the state of Pará, Brazil. This law defines the guidelines and objectives to promote food and nutritional security, guarantee the Human Right to Adequate Food (DHAA) and Food Sovereignty. Its guidelines include the promotion of universal access to adequate and healthy foods, the strengthening of agroecological systems of food production and distribution, and the implementation of education and training processes in food security. The law establishes the creation and strengthening of Municipal Food and Nutrition Security Councils and the implementation of municipal plans aligned with state and national guidelines. The law also includes mechanisms for social participation in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of policy, guaranteeing transparency and inclusion of diverse social and cultural groups. In addition, international cooperation and the promotion of food sovereignty in international negotiations are contemplated. In terms of sustainability, the law promotes agroecological practices and the conservation of Pará biodiversity, and establishes the creation of environments favorable to healthy eating in spaces such as schools and workplaces.
