Description
The Decree highlights the importance of regulating and ensuring biosecurity in the country's pig farms, recognizing the pork industry as a public policy of high economic and strategic relevance for national food security. In view of the significant increase in the number of pig farms and the lack of specific regulations, the decree seeks to mitigate the impact of infectious diseases such as classical swine fever (CSF) and African swine fever (ASF), which have caused economic and restrictions on exports. In compliance with Law no. 4030 of 1955, which focuses on the health defense of livestock, the Ministry of Agriculture is instructed to develop a regulation that facilitates the registration, surveillance, early notification and diagnosis of diseases, in addition to establishing requirements for waste management. The objective is to guarantee animal health, protect public health and promote the sustainable development of the Dominican pork industry.
