Description

Supreme Decree No. 4007 establishes the creation of the National Program to Support Fruit Production. This program, administered by the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands, seeks to strengthen food security and sovereignty by increasing the production and competitiveness of the fruit sector in the areas of apple, peach, avocado and cherimoya. The Program contemplates the following four components: 1) Innovation; 2) Plant health and safety; 3) Production; 4) Technical assistance and market implemented by executing entities of the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands, and is financed with a transfer of Bs169,309,917 from the General Treasury of the Nation. The monitoring and coordination of the program will be in charge of the Decentralized Public Institution "Food Sovereignty", which will verify compliance with objectives, goals, activities and results. In addition, the performance of external audits and the authorization of public-private transfers for the implementation of the program are established.
