Supreme Decree 4632 Creates the Programs for tubers and roots, cotton, Andean grains, urban and peri-urban agriculture, fishing and aquaculture, and support for beekeeping production

Description

Supreme Decree No. 4632 establishes several programs to support and strengthen agricultural and fishing production in Bolivia, with an implementation horizon between 2022 and 2025. The National Program to Support Cotton Production in Bolivia aims to strengthen production of cotton in traditional and potential areas, seeking to reduce imports and improve the competitiveness of the sector, with financing of Bs122,132,241. The National Program to Strengthen and Support Beekeeping Production, Under Criteria of Resilience to Climate Change, is focused on consolidating the national beekeeping sector and promoting its resilience against climate change, with financing of Bs315,309,642. The National Program to Support the Production and Marketing of Andean Grains, such as Quinoa, Canahua, Amaranth and Tarwi, has the purpose of increasing the production and sustainable productivity of these grains, with financing of Bs229,631,129. The National Program for the Development of Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture in Bolivia seeks to strengthen sustainable fishing and aquaculture, with financing of Bs265,067,573. The National Tuber and Root Program aims to increase the yields of potato and cassava crops, prioritizing varieties with industrial characteristics, with financing of Bs767,858,926. The National Program to Promote Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture is intended to increase the production and consumption of food in urban and peri-urban agriculture, contributing to food security and sovereignty, with financing of Bs79,799,208. The Ministry of Rural Development and Lands can make transfers in kind to the beneficiaries of the programs, who must consider a counterpart in accordance with the specific regulations prepared by said ministry. This decree seeks to promote comprehensive sustainable rural development, improve the productivity and competitiveness of agricultural and fishing production, and contribute to food security and sovereignty in Bolivia.
