Supreme Decree No. 2852 – National Groundwater Well Drilling Program “Nuestro Pozo”

Supreme Decree establishing the National Groundwater Well Drilling Program “Nuestro Pozo” and the decentralized public entity Well Implementation Unit (UE-Pozos), under the Ministry of Rural Development and Land, with the purpose of guaranteeing water availability for food security. UE-Pozos is responsible for responding to drought emergencies; administering and implementing the Program; managing inter-institutional and intergovernmental agreements; financing well construction and rehabilitation projects; prioritizing municipalities affected by drought; supporting research to identify groundwater aquifers; rehabilitating and equipping wells; and ensuring the infrastructure required for water extraction, pumping, storage and distribution. The Decree also authorizes the free transfer of infrastructure and equipment to autonomous territorial entities.
