Description

Law 2303 of 2023 declares of national social interest and health priority the prevention, mitigation, eradication, containment and renewal of Fusarium R4T wilt of plantain and banana, Huanglongbing (HLB) of citrus, and bud rot and wilt lethal in oil palm. The law establishes the creation of specific National Programs for each of these diseases and the strengthening of institutional capacities for their management. The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) and the Colombian Agricultural Research Corporation (Agrosavia) are the entities responsible for implementing the necessary phytosanitary and biosafety measures. In addition, National Commissions are created in charge of coordinating and supervising the execution of the programs, made up of representatives of the government, trade associations, universities and local communities.
