Codification of Ecuador's Agrarian Development Law

The Codification of the Agrarian Development Law establishes the framework for the promotion, development and comprehensive protection of Ecuador's agricultural sector, aimed at ensuring food availability, increasing production and exports of surpluses, and promoting sustainable natural-resource management. It provides for farmer and rural-community training, technical assistance, research and technology transfer, agricultural insurance and credit, domestic and international marketing, productive investment, protection of short-cycle crop producers, access to and titling of land, strengthening of communal property, and measures for soil conservation and sustainable land use. The Law was repealed in 2016 by the Organic Law on Rural Lands and Ancestral Territories.
