Description

The Law focuses on the regulation, promotion and strengthening of the sustainable development of organic production in the country. This legislation declares of national interest the production of food and other products derived from agriculture and forestry that are ecological, accessible and do not harm the environment. The law defines the terms related to organic farming and establishes that all processes, from production to marketing, must avoid the use of synthetic inputs such as pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, and must comply with technical standards for organic production certified by recognized entities. . In addition, the National Council for Organic Production (CNAPE) is created under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural, Agricultural and Environment Development, which has the task of managing and supporting the development of organic production policies and programs. It also promotes incentives and development programs, integrating ecological production into municipal and departmental development plans, and in education, in order to strengthen ecological research and technology.
