Description

The Law regulates activities related to the production, qualification and marketing of seeds to ensure their quality and effectiveness in agriculture, establishes the principles and criteria for the production of certified seeds, including aspects of physical, physiological, phytosanitary and genetic quality. The regulations classify seeds into several categories such as basic, registered, certified, qualified and declared, and define the seed qualification processes. The National Seed System is created under this law to coordinate and promote the quality and trade of seeds, integrating representatives from various institutions and sectors. In addition, the law establishes the System Support and Incentive Fund to finance activities related to the production and use of quality seeds.
