The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Regional Gender Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean (Gender Indicators to 2023)

The 2030 Agenda raises the urgency of achieving gender equality through the 17 SDGs, with a transformative vision towards equality and economic, social and environmental sustainability. SDG 5 establishes "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls" as a goal in itself, while the achievement of gender equality is raised in a cross-cutting way and inseparable from the rest of the Goals of the Agenda (ECLAC, 2022a). To monitor progress towards the goals set in each SDG and to promote that progress, indicators were agreed on which national statistical offices should report, in coordination with the other sectors of government.
