Fecha de inicio: 01/09/2014
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The policy's fundamental objective is to guide land use planning in a way that promotes sustainable development, balancing economic and social growth with environmental protection. This policy is integrated with other laws and policies to maximize the use of the country's human, natural and financial resources, with the vision of positioning Dominica as an example of economic success and significant improvement in the quality of life of its inhabitants. In addition, it seeks to empower citizens and create an environment conducive to the flourishing of private business, through an approach that includes strengthening agriculture and promoting agrotourism. In this, emphasis is placed on protecting agricultural lands for their economic and cultural importance, managing their use in a way that preserves their long-term viability. This includes encouraging agritourism and agro-industrial processing as ways to add value and diversify economic opportunities in rural areas, thereby supporting Dominica's economic development and food security.
