Forests, Territories of Life – Comprehensive Strategy for Deforestation Control and Forest Management (EICDGB) – Colombia's National REDD+ Strategy

The Comprehensive Strategy for Deforestation Control and Forest Management (EICDGB), known as “Forests, Territories of Life”, is Colombia's National REDD+ Strategy and a cross-sectoral policy instrument aimed at reducing deforestation and forest degradation and promoting sustainable forest management under an integrated rural development approach. The Strategy articulates actions involving socio-cultural forest management, development of a forest-based economy and stabilization of the agricultural frontier, cross-sectoral territorial planning, permanent monitoring and control, and strengthening of legal, institutional and financial capacities. It seeks to improve the well-being of local communities, conserve biodiversity and ecosystem services, strengthen forest governance, and contribute to climate-change mitigation and adaptation.
