National Plan for the Development of Sustainable Aquaculture (PlanDas) in Colombia

Description

This strategic plan seeks to strengthen and organize the Colombian aquaculture sector with a vision of sustainable development, contributing to the rural economy and offering livelihood alternatives for communities in areas with aquaculture potential. It covers actions from improving the legal framework and institutional cohesion to promoting research, health and safety. Likewise, it emphasizes the inclusion of aquaculture in Territorial Planning Plans and seeks to improve the articulation between public policies and private interests to enhance the development of the activity. The PlanDAS is seen as a key instrument for the economic growth of the Colombian agricultural sector, taking into account the integration of small producers and the generation of rural employment, while preserving the environment and strengthening food security.
