CONPES 3375 of 2005: National Agricultural Health and Food Safety Policy for the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures System

The National Policy on Agricultural Health and Food Safety, adopted via CONPES 3375 of 2005, establishes guidelines to strengthen Colombia’s National Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures System. The policy aims to improve the sanitary status of agri-food production, protect human, animal, and plant health, preserve environmental quality, increase competitiveness, and facilitate market access for agri-food products in international markets. The framework adopts a comprehensive "farm-to-table" approach based on risk assessment, management, and communication, and encompasses institutional strengthening, regulatory updates, inspection and control, epidemiological surveillance, diagnostics, prevention, traceability, and food safety management systems.
