Sectoral Strategic Plan “Field with Progress: Productive Transformation, Competitiveness and Rural Development 2019 - 2022” Colombia

The Plan focuses on boosting productivity, competitiveness, and profitability of the rural agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. With a focus on reducing the gaps between the countryside and the city, the plan seeks to take advantage of the country's agricultural potential, improve the productive and social inclusion of farmers, especially small producers, through planning based on the vocation of the soil, and create favorable social and economic conditions. To achieve these objectives, the plan establishes strategic objectives, products, goals, and measurable actions. This strategy seeks to formalize contractual relationships between producers and buyers (industry and large commercial stores), promoting an equitable distribution of profits throughout the marketing chain. In addition, the plan provides for the implementation of comprehensive technical support services and the generation of supply-demand meeting spaces to advance contract farming, with specific financial and technical incentives to promote this modality.
