CONPES 4080: Public Policy on Gender Equality for Women towards sustainable development Colombia

This policy is the result of a process of evolution and recognition of the need to move beyond temporary government policies, towards permanent state commitments that ensure the advancement of women's rights. Significant progress is evident in areas such as access to education, economic participation, and leadership in public and private spaces. However, challenges still persist in closing gender gaps and creating equal conditions so that women and men have the same opportunities for economic and social development. CONPES 4080 establishes a set of actions focused on six main areas: increasing the economic autonomy of women, progress towards parity in political participation and in leadership positions, improving physical and mental health, strengthening the policy against gender violence, affirmation of the role of women in peacebuilding, and institutional strengthening for the mainstreaming of the gender approach. These actions are designed to address the multidimensional problems that affect women in their life course, highlighting the particular situation of rural women.
