Law 2169 of 2021: Climate Action Law for Carbon Neutrality and Climate Resilience in Colombia

Law 2169 of 2021 establishes Colombia's minimum targets and measures for advancing toward carbon neutrality, climate resilience, and low-carbon development, in alignment with the country's international commitments. For the agricultural, fisheries, and rural development sectors, the Law sets out mitigation and adaptation measures that include sustainable production models, technological transformation, capacity building to address climate variability and change, the expansion of Agro-climatic Technical Roundtables, the provision of agro-climatic information to producers, and the reduction of emissions and deforestation associated with productive activities. The legislation establishes national targets for 2030 and a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
