Fecha de inicio: 22/12/2021
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The law establishes the regulatory framework to promote low-carbon development in Colombia, in order to achieve carbon neutrality and promote climate resilience in the short, medium and long term. This law is part of the international commitments assumed by Colombia regarding climate change. It will apply to all public entities and organizations at the national and territorial level, as well as the private sector, based on their constitutional and legal powers. The transition towards carbon neutrality is based on pillars such as the alignment of climate actions with food security, health, poverty eradication, fair labor transition, environmental and socioeconomic protection for present and future generations, and the implementation of positive actions to stop the loss of biodiversity. In addition, the law emphasizes co-responsibility in the implementation of goals and measures for carbon neutrality and low-carbon development, recognition of sectoral and territorial differences, and the importance of an informed and aware citizenry.
