Strategic Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Colombian Agricultural Sector (2017-2027)

The Strategic Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Colombian Agricultural Sector (PECTIA) 2017-2027 is a guiding framework for investment in STI, seeking to improve the productivity, competitiveness and sustainability of the sector. PECTIA focuses on strengthening the National System of Agroindustrial Science and Technology (SNCTA) by focusing actions, improving the allocation of resources, and promoting knowledge management. It proposes strategic and specific objectives around six factors, including food security, environmental sustainability and information and communications technologies (ICT). In addition, it addresses aspects of governance, investment and financing, and capacities in human resources and infrastructure. The plan was developed through a participatory process with national and territorial actors. The vision of PECTIA is that by 2027 the country has an active and coordinated agricultural innovation system at the national and territorial level, which will have contributed to the increase in sustainability, competitiveness and sectoral productivity, to the improvement of the quality and safety of the national food supply and the social capital necessary for adequate governance of public investment resources in activities and capacities in STI, supported by monitoring and evaluation mechanisms effective.
