Law 30 of 1988: Agrarian Reform, Productive Use of Rural Land and Peasant Development

Law 30 of 1988 amended and supplemented the Colombian agrarian reform regime with the aim of fostering the economic exploitation and social utilization of rural lands suitable for agricultural and livestock activities, bringing idle or underutilized lands into production, and improving the living conditions of the rural population. The Law strengthened programs for land redistribution and allocation, technical assistance, agricultural credit, rural infrastructure, marketing, and rural organization, and established mechanisms for land development and irrigation districts. It was expressly repealed by Law 160 of 1994.
