Description

The European Commission's proposal to increase tariffs on imports of cereals, oilseeds, and related products from Russia and Belarus, including wheat, corn, and sunflower flour, aims to prevent the destabilization of the EU market due to the potential redirection of significant quantities of Russian cereals towards this market. It also seeks to address the illegal export of Russian cereals produced in Ukrainian territories, ensuring that this illicit method is no longer profitable and preventing the revenue from these exports from financing Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, thereby cutting off a key source of income for the Russian economy and its war machinery.
