Description

The Plata Basin Treaty, signed by Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, focuses on the harmonious development and physical integration of the basin and its areas of influence, promoting cooperation and solidarity for the sustainable use of the natural resources. It stipulates the carrying out of common projects and works, promoting navigation, water management, environmental preservation, and the development of infrastructure and cooperation in education and health. In addition, it establishes annual meetings of foreign ministers and creates an intergovernmental committee as a permanent coordination body, allowing the development of individual and bilateral or multilateral initiatives without harming common objectives.
