Description

The Regulations of the General Seed Law of Peru, established by Supreme Decree No. 006-2012-AG, defines a legal framework to regulate seed research, production, certification and marketing activities within the territory. Aimed at improving the availability, quality and timeliness of seeds, the regulation promotes the participation of the private sector and seeks to increase the competitiveness of small farmers. It focuses on the sustainable use of plant genetic resources and biodiversity conservation, ranging from the regulation of different production systems to the implementation of standards for seed certification and trade.
