Description

Law 8631 establishes the legal regime for the protection of the rights of breeders of plant varieties. It focuses on protecting the interests of small and medium farmers and promoting agricultural development and competitiveness. The law covers the generation of protected varieties, the granting of plant variety titles, and recognizes the activity as being of public interest. In addition, it considers aspects such as novelty, distinctiveness, homogeneity, and stability of varieties to grant protection, and defines the procedures to request and maintain such rights.
