European Union Regulation 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the placing on the Union market and the export from the Union of certain raw materials and products associated with deforestation and forest degradation.

With this Regulation, the EU is taking measures to minimize as much as possible the global deforestation and forest production driven by the consumption of certain raw materials and products. In doing so, it seeks to reduce its contribution to greenhouse gas emissions and global biodiversity loss, as well as to promote sustainable patterns of production and consumption throughout the global supply chain. The Regulation lays down provisions on the introduction, placing on the market and export to or from the EU market (hereinafter referred to as the market) of relevant raw materials and products (hereinafter referred to as materials and products). The latter are those products which contain, have been fed with or have been produced using any of these raw materials.
