Legislative Decree No. 21 - Law for the Creation of the Trust for the Rescue of the Coffee Industry

The objective of this Law is the constitution, operation and regulation of the Trust for the Rescue of Coffee Growing (FIRECAFE), with the purpose of granting credits for the production of coffee and for its productive chain, which will have the following scopes: a) Planting, renovation and agronomic management; b) Protection of the current coffee park; c) Ensure the profitability and sustainability of the sector; d) Environmental recovery and sustainability; e) Stimulate the increase of productivity and quality of Salvadoran coffee; f) Contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of the communities located in the coffee zones; g) Promote the development of the different economic sectors of the municipalities where coffee is planted, as a result of the increase of the productivity of the coffee park. The granting of loans may be made through financial institutions authorized and supervised by the Superintendence of the Financial System or through the Economic Development Fund, which is administered by the Development Bank of the Republic of El Salvador (BANDESAL).
