This paper was prepared with the objective of addressing the specific impacts of drought and its consequences. It was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Soil Conservation, which is part of the Water Security Directorate of the Ministry of Environment. Support for this initiative was provided through the Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), in order to strengthen national capacities and prepare adequately. This effort is part of the Drought initiative for the 2018-2019 biennium, promoted by the aforementioned Convention, with the purpose of contributing to the improvement of prevention, mitigation and adaptation of communities and ecosystems in the face of abnormal drought events. This is achieved by promoting the creation of policy instruments that strengthen the management of countries in the face of this phenomenon.
