Ecuador: Biodiesel Blending Mandate: Executive Decree No. 1303 declares the development of biofuels to be of national interest in Ecuador.

Presidential Decree 1303 introduced the first mandatory 5% biodiesel blending mandate, to be met by March 17, 2013. In addition, the decree declares the development of biofuels in Ecuador to be of national interest as a means to boost agricultural development in the country. The production, use and consumption of biofuels will respond to an inclusive rural development strategy, safeguarding food sovereignty and environmental sustainability.
