Regulation (EU) No 488/2014 regarding the maximum cadmium content in food products.

Fecha de inicio: 12/05/2014
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

Maximum cadmium levels have been established for a wide range of foods, including cereals, vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, offal, and dietary supplements. However, for certain food products that significantly contribute to the exposure of specific population groups, such as chocolate and cocoa products and foods for infants and young children, maximum levels have not yet been set. Therefore, it is necessary to establish maximum cadmium levels for these food products. The maximum contaminant level is set in accordance with the ALARA principle ("as low as reasonably achievable"), both for products that already have established maximum levels (e.g., vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, offal, and dietary supplements) and for products with new maximum levels (such as cocoa and chocolate products), using data on presence and dietary consumption patterns of European Union citizens.
