Preliminary draft of the Law for the Promotion of the Bioeconomy in Costa Rica

The initiative seeks to finance research and development of the bioeconomy and incubation of bioenterprises. This bill, under file number 23868, seeks to promote this activity, understood as the "utilization, conservation and regeneration of biological resources, including knowledge, science, technology and innovation related to such resources, to provide information, products, processes and services to all economic sectors, with the purpose of moving towards a sustainable economy". In addition to establishing the active participation of ministries and institutions, it proposes the creation of the Bioeconomic Innovation Stimulus Fund (FODEIBI) to finance the development, research and innovation of bio-businesses, bio-inputs or bio-products, among others.
