Description

The goal Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Agri-Food Science Canada is to guide research and innovation in Canada's agriculture and agri-food sector to address current and future challenges and take advantage of emerging opportunities, and establishes four priority mission areas: 1. Climate change mitigation and adaptation: includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to the impacts of climate change, and improving the resilience of agricultural systems; 2. Increasing the resilience of agroecosystems: includes improving soil health, integrated pest and disease management, and improving biodiversity and water quality; 3. Developing value-added opportunities in the circular economy: includes producing bioproducts and bioenergy, improving efficiency in food production and processing, and reducing waste and environmental footprint; 4. Accelerating the digital transformation of the agriculture and agri-food sector: includes the adoption of emerging technologies such as big data analytics, automation and artificial intelligence, and improved connectivity and interoperability of digital systems.
