Description

The purpose of this Law is to protect, revitalize, multiply, and promote agrobiodiversity concerning phytogenetic resources for food and agriculture; ensure the production and ongoing free access to quality and diverse seeds through the promotion of scientific research and the regulation of sustainable agriculture models; while respecting diverse identities, knowledge, and traditions to ensure self-sufficiency in healthy, diverse, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods, aiming for food sovereignty and contributing to the concept of Buen Vivir or Sumak Kawsay.
