Description

Adopted at the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on March 25, 2023, the Ibero-American Charter of Principles and Rights in Digital Environments aims to promote common principles so that they are taken into account by States when adopting or adapting national legislation or implementing public policies related to the protection of rights and the fulfillment of duties in digital environments, as well as by companies, civil society, and academia, developing and applying technologies that place people at the center of digital transformation. The charter is an instrument of voluntary adhesion that highlights the importance of having the necessary resources to guarantee digital development, including strengthening developing countries' capacity to reduce the digital divide and achieve an inclusive, fair, safe, resilient, and sustainable digital society.
