Description

In the Report of the Conference of the Parties on its seventeenth session, held in Durban from 28 November to 11 December 2011, the UNFCCC stresses that various approaches, including opportunities to use markets, to enhance the cost-effectiveness of, and to promote, mitigation actions, bearing in mind the different circumstances of developed and developing countries, must meet standards that ensure the achievement of real, permanent, additional and verified mitigation outcomes, avoid double counting of efforts and lead to a net decrease in and/or avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions.
