Description

The purpose of this policy is to ensure the contribution of water to the achievement of Guatemala's national development goals and objectives. It is a Public Policy of the Central Government that is presented as a reference for actions at the national level to transcend towards a long-term State Public Policy, based on national planning and budgeting tools. More specifically, the general objective of the document is to ensure the contribution of water to the fulfillment of the country's economic, social and environmental development goals and objectives, through the institutionalization of a national water management and governance system that satisfies the greatest number of demands, foresees future requirements, manages water risks and protects the natural resource, within a framework of social harmony, transgenerational human development and national sovereignty.
