Description

Mexicos Sustainable Rural Development Law is a key instrument for promoting rural development in the country. The main objective of this legislation is to promote sustainable rural development that enhances the quality of life of the rural population and promotes equity, environmental sustainability and food security. To achieve these objectives, the law establishes guiding principles such as social participation, equity, environmental sustainability and food security. It also focuses on rural development planning, public investment, regulation and promotion, and the creation of funds and trusts to support sustainable rural development. This legislation has had a positive impact, increasing agricultural production, improving the productivity and competitiveness of rural producers, and reducing poverty in rural areas. Nevertheless, challenges remain, such as inequality among rural producers, environmental degradation and climate change.
