The Agricultural Innovation Initiative for Climate (AIM for Climate) was officially launched on November 2, 2021 during COP26 by the United States and the United Arab Emirates, along with 31 countries and over 48 non-governmental partners. It seeks to mobilize investments for climate-smart agriculture, with a commitment by the United States to invest $1 billion over the next five years. AIM for Climate focuses on increasing investment and fostering public-private partnerships to raise global climate ambition and transform the agricultural sector, achieving an initial increase of $4 billion in investments. AIM for Climate’s key objectives include increasing investment in agricultural innovation, supporting frameworks for knowledge promotion and international cooperation, and establishing exchange structures between ministers and scientists. The initiative focuses on scientific and applied research and the development of innovative products that improve agricultural resilience.
