National Food and Nutrition Security Policy (PSAN) – CONPES Social 113 of 2008

The National Food and Nutrition Security Policy (PSAN), adopted through CONPES Social Document 113 of 2008, establishes Colombia's national framework for ensuring that the entire population has permanent and timely availability of, access to and consumption of sufficient, varied, safe and quality food under conditions that enable adequate biological utilization. The Policy comprehensively addresses food availability, physical and economic access, consumption, biological utilization, and food quality and safety. It establishes strategies for institutional development, territorial planning, targeting, strategic partnerships, community participation, information, education and communication, and monitoring and evaluation, while promoting actions related to food production and markets, access to productive factors, protection of vulnerable populations, health and nutrition, food safety, science and technology, and capacity building.
