Irrigation Decade Law 2015-2025 (Law No. 745)

The purpose of this Law is to declare the period from 2015 to 2025 the Decade of Irrigation, Towards One Million Hectares. The Law is part of the Patriotic Agenda of the Bicentennial and aims to promote agricultural production through investments from the central level of the State and the autonomous territorial entities, aimed at the development of irrigation in the country. They constitute strategic axes of the agenda of the Irrigation Decade, among others: expansion of irrigated land; revitalization of irrigation systems; implementation of water storage systems with dams; implementation of multiple-use family systems and water harvesting; reuse of wastewater for irrigation; promotion of technified irrigation; sustainable increase in agricultural productivity under irrigation.
