The Family Farming Law of El Salvador establishes the responsibilities of the State in the development of a legal framework to move towards a sustainable productive model of family, peasant and indigenous agriculture that is resilient to climate change. It proposes the purposes that family farming will have, among them: to strengthen productive capacity, contribute to the development of capabilities for the generation, exchange, transfer and adoption of technology in family farming. It also states that all policies involving family farming will be governed by the principles of equity and inclusion, complementarity, sustainability, transparency and solidarity. The governing body is the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock; however, the National Council for Family Farming (CONAF) will provide technical assistance.
