Ecuador: National Agricultural Policy and Plan (2020-2030)

Start Date: 2020
End Date: 2030

Description

The instrument defines a policy for Ecuadorian agriculture that is competitive, sustainable, and inclusive. It is structured around six pillars: promoting productivity and quality, market orientation and development, access to services and infrastructure, strengthening associations and participation, environmental sustainability and adaptation to climate change, and institutional and legal modernization. The Plan implements these policies through agroecological zoning, prioritization of crops with export potential, and a territorial approach that combines biophysical and socioeconomic indicators, supported by the FAO's "Hand in Hand" strategy to focus interventions on the poorest areas with the greatest productive potential.
