Bolivia: National Development Plan “Dignified, Sovereign, Productive and Democratic Bolivia for Living Well” 2006–2011

Bolivia's General Economic and Social Development Plan for the 2006–2011 period, whose updated version was approved through Supreme Decree No. 29272 of 12 September 2007. The Plan established the national framework for coordinating sectoral, territorial and institutional planning around four strategies: Dignified Bolivia, focused on socio-community development and reducing poverty and exclusion; Democratic Bolivia, aimed at strengthening social participation; Productive Bolivia, designed to transform the productive structure and generate income and employment; and Sovereign Bolivia, focused on international relations. In the agricultural and rural sectors, the Plan promoted a Rural, Agrarian and Forestry Revolution centred on food security and sovereignty, transformation of land and forest tenure and access, strengthening family, peasant and Indigenous agriculture, productive water use and irrigation, higher agricultural productivity and diversification, technical assistance, market linkages and sustainable territorial rural development.
