Based on the identification and analysis of the public problem affecting agricultural producers - the “low level of competitive agricultural development” - and the projection of the desired future situation, the priority objectives that guide the National Agricultural Policy 2021-2030, approved by Supreme Decree No. 017-2021-MIDAGRI, were defined.
These objectives are based on statistical and scientific evidence and include result indicators to evaluate their fulfillment. Based on them, guidelines are established and, subsequently, services with mandatory standards are established.
The policy addresses three main causes:
- The low vertical integration of agricultural producers in value chains;
- The high proportion of producer families operating at subsistence levels;
- Inadequate and unsustainable management of natural resources.
The goal is that, by 2030, the sector's competitive development will increase by 36%, thanks to greater integration of producers into the value chain, a reduction in the number of subsistence families and sustainable and improved management of the natural resources used in agricultural production.
