Peru: National Agrarian Policy 2021-2030

National sectoral policy approved through Supreme Decree No. 017-2021-MIDAGRI to address Peru's low level of agricultural competitive development. The policy prioritizes family farmers and establishes three priority objectives: increasing the vertical integration of agricultural producers into value chains; reducing the proportion of family farmers operating at subsistence level; and improving natural-resource management for sustainable agricultural production. To achieve these objectives, it establishes fourteen policy guidelines and twenty-two services related to market linkages, producer organization, financing, technical assistance, animal and plant health and food safety, agricultural information, irrigation infrastructure and modernization, sustainable water and soil management, agroforestry and productive diversification. The policy remains in force until 31 December 2030 and is implemented, monitored and evaluated under the leadership of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation.
