Other factors and also taking into account the decrease in the purchasing power of the population due to the COVID-19, as well as in order to stabilize prices for sunflower oil, the Government of Kazakhstan was forced to introduce the quantitative restrictions in the form of export quotas for sunflower oil (which is considered a socially a significant commodity for Kazakhstan) and sunflower seeds, on the grounds permitted by the WTO rules, given that such a measure is necessary to protect human life and health.
