European Commission sets requirements for bitter melon from Mexico, Honduras and Thailand

The European Commission (EC) has increased the specific phytosanitary requirements for imports into the European Union (EU) of Momordica charantia L. (bitter melon) fruits originating in Honduras, Mexico and Thailand to prevent the entry of the pest of the insect Thrips palmi Karny into the territory. In the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), in Regulation 2022/853 in which it specifies that shipments must come from "a pest-free zone, a production site with complete physical protection or a production site where measures have been taken in relation to the production, handling and inspection of the fruits".
