Organic Law on Water Resources, Uses and Water Utilization

Organic Law establishing Ecuador's national framework for integrated water-resources management and guaranteeing the human right to water. It regulates the planning, conservation, protection, restoration, authorization, use and productive utilization of water; establishes river basins as the unit for integrated planning and management; recognizes public and community management of drinking-water, irrigation and drainage services; establishes an order of priority that gives precedence to human consumption and irrigation for food sovereignty; and provides for administrative authorizations, regulatory controls and water tariffs for different uses and productive activities.
