INVENTORY: First inventory of GHG emissions and sinks

Fecha de inicio: 31/12/2000
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

Greenhouse Gas Inventories (GHGI) comprehensively account for each of the Greenhouse Gases (GHG) produced by human activities and absorbed by natural sinks (forests and oceans) within a country and for a specific period, usually a calendar year. As a result, GHGI report the national contribution to global climate change, serving as the primary tool for monitoring the progress of global warming and the achievement of the global climate change mitigation goal. Honduras' first GHGI was published in 2000 in the First National Communication, covering emissions and absorptions data for the period 1990-1995. The sectors considered in the inventory were: Energy, Industrial Processes, Agriculture, Land Use Change, and Waste Management. Six gases were included: carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrous oxide (N2O), methane (CH4), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC).
