Data or statistical facts on the situation and perspectives of agri-food systems and the impact of policies
CAF and Brazil signed an agreement at COP30 with the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples and FILAC to strengthen the rights and inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in the region (CAF, 2025).
The study assessed how precision technologies—such as sensors, GIS, and drones—relate to agricultural input management in the San Martín region of Peru. Based on surveys of 120 producers, it found that productivity and sustainability positively influence efficient input management, while costs, limited infrastructure, and resistance to change are the main barriers to their adoption
20.29 °C was the global average temperature recorded in 2024, with an anomaly of +1.18 °C (SENAMHI, 2024). This thermal increase is reflected in Peru through a higher frequency and intensity of droughts, floods, heat waves, cold spells, and landslides, affecting ecosystems, infrastructure, and productive sectors.
This study phenotypically characterizes 74 wild accessions of Myrciaria dubia (camu camu) from the INIA ex situ germplasm bank to identify variability relevant for genetic improvement, conservation, and sustainable use programs. Morphological, physical, and fruit quality characteristics were evaluated, revealing a wide diversity that can be used to select genotypes with higher yield and quality Im...
This study assessed the use of coffee by-products (mucilage, pulp, and yogurt) as starter cultures in semi-wet fermentation. Significant sugar reduction and enhanced formation of desirable aromatic compounds raised the cup score from 84 (control) to 86.7, qualifying it as specialty coffee (Díaz Medina, J. A. et al., 2024).
This study evaluates the spatial distribution of cadmium (Cd) in soils cultivated with avocado (Persea americana) in different regions of Peru, identifying factors that influence its concentration, such as texture, pH, organic matter, and agricultural practices. It was determined that several areas have elevated levels of Cd, which represents a risk to food safety and exports, especially given the...
The study examines how droughts, floods, and temperature shifts impact agriculture in Peru and Ecuador. It reviews adaptation strategies such as climate-resilient crops, irrigation innovations, and government support. Findings show improved resilience, but highlight the need for more sustainable practices and stronger climate policies (Fernandez & Morales, 2025).
Survey of 130 goat producers in Piura (Marcavelica, Lancones, La Brea) found 56.9 % recognized climate change, perceiving impacts on temperature (69.9 %), rainfall (100 %), soil productivity (79.2 %), and water availability (50 %). Four adaptation capacity clusters emerged: excellent (6 %), good (23 %), fair (75 %), and poor (25 %) (Temoche et al., 2024).
More than 2 000 professionals from 31 countries in the Americas have been trained by IICA since 2017 in vector-borne disease surveillance (ECLAC, FAO and IICA, 2023).
More than 11,000 small cotton producers in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Haiti, Paraguay and Peru have benefited from the +Cotton project (CEPAL, FAO y IICA, 2023).
